G’day, my name is Kerry Ricketts and I have been in the Automotive and Mining Industries for over 37 years. Since commencing my Auto Electrical Apprenticeship in 1973, I have worked in many facets of the Trade. I have gained a wide experience in fields including automotive, marine, heavy transport, mining and industrial. The knowledge I have gained along the way in both hands on experience and managerial roles has put me in good stead to be able to talk the talk with customers about their enquiries and offer the correct advice. I enjoy the challenge of finding solutions to customer’s special requirements. My other passions include V8 Super cars, golf and beer gardening !! |

My name is Phil Cairney and I have been employed in the battery industry for over 30 years. I’ve worked in both manufacturing and sales & marketing for a couple of small battery distributors and then the bulk of my career for Exide Batteries. I started my apprenticeship in manufacturing, building and repairing batteries back when batteries were made from a hard rubber core and a pitch top – we certainly have come a long way since then. I moved into sales in the 90’s learning all about the features and benefits of batteries, giving me the knowledge to advise customers of the best products for their needs. With the range of batteries these days from wet batteries to sealed maintenance free to calcium – AGM, being able to fit the customer with the right battery whether it be marine, deep cycle or just the family car battery gives me a sense of satisfaction. |

My name is Mark Shordon and I have been in the automotive and battery industry on and off for 30 years. I am a qualified Auto Electrician, starting my apprenticeship in 1979. I worked in our family business until 1988. I tried my hand at a canvas repair and manufacturing business and then later worked in the Education Dept as an approved lecturer in farm animals until 1995. I then returned to the battery retail business and have gained an extensive product knowledge in the ever changing industry where I am still currently employed. I enjoy talking with people who have either been travelling or are about to set off on their travels, helping them set up their caravans and motor homes for the journey. Along the way I have enjoyed being a working musician since 1976 and I still play in a band some weekends for enjoyment. |
